Nairobi, 20 May 2025 – The Accelerate-to-Demonstrate (A2D) Facility, implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) with funding from the UK Government’s Department of Energy Security & Net Zero, has published the Facility’s second call-for-proposals. The A2D Facility provides grant funding for the implementation and operation of innovative and transformational demonstration projects in developing countries. The call-for-proposals targets four thematic areas:

  • critical minerals
  • clean hydrogen
  • smart energy
  • industrial decarbonization

The launch took place at the A2D Facility’s first annual event, which was held in Nairobi, Kenya, where key stakeholders from across Africa, Asia, Latin America and other regions came together to share experiences, results and case studies of accelerating the commercialization of innovative climate solutions and demonstration projects in developing countries. Attendees included industry associations, financiers, project developers, government representatives and international organizations.

In a keynote video address, UNIDO Director General Gerd Müller announced the publication of the second call-for-proposals, emphasising the critical role of innovation and public-private partnerships in accelerating clean energy transitions and sustainable and inclusive industrial transformations.

The event also marked the launch of the A2D Facility Year Two Annual Report, which outlines the achievements to date, introduces the first five-supported demonstration projects from the first call-for-proposals and provides the forward look for the A2D Facility. The report is available for download here.
